You didn't really go life and death with him. Even in the rounds where Molina knocked him down, those were just 2 shots in rounds where Matthysse was pretty much beating the **** out of him. One was to the back of the head. Matthysse was wobbled once, and never really hurt.

That fight was not a good look for Lucas, but he didn't go life and death with Molina.

Yeah, but it shouldn't have been FOTY, Lucas was suppoused to beat Molina rather easily. He's just not that good, as painful as it might sound to you.

I hope Provo will knock him out, finish what Garcia started, and end this ridicoulous Matthysse hype once and for all.

Matthysse is a better boxer than Provodnikov but it's hard to tell if it will make a difference in this fight. If he can't keep Provodnikov at a manageable distance, then you'd have to ask if trying to box is a good idea at all. If Lucas backs up to give himself room he automatically gives Ruslan the space to come forward, which is what he wants.

It will be really interesting to see how each guy takes the other's power in the first 2-3 rounds. Fighting more off the back foot and letting Ruslan tire might be a good strategy in theory, but Matthysse might also be better off getting Provodnikov's respect early and discouraging him from relentlessly coming forward. But who knows if that's even possible.

I think the people picking Ruslan in this fight are probably doing so on the basis of Matthysse getting visibly hurt against Molina. He's showed that little bit more softness than Provodnikov and people are taking that as a sign he'll crack first.

I think he did pretty well. Molina sure looked motivated, taking some brain damaging punches and still coming at him, night and day for the guy that took a dive against Broner. I at least dont think Matthysse was in danger of losing that fight at any point other than a couple good moments Molina had. Molina has no skill, what he did have in that fight was a ton of heart, which he later sold. If you ask me I think even losing that fight was enough for him to have just enough fame so as to go with Broner, and there he just sold out, took the money and just stood there for Broner's lazy ass to work on him.

Interesting thing about that fight is that Lucas gave Molina the fight he needed. Molina's only hope was a close quarters slug-fest, that's really the only chance he ever has. And Matthysse offered it to him.

So you have to credit Matthysse for beating him down the way he did, but you also have to ask - if he couldn't prevent all out war against Molina why is there any reason to believe he can do so against the more talented Provodnikov?

I know Matthysse's camp are talking about maintaining a bit of distance early on, but I don't see it. I think we'll get fireworks from the opening bell for however long it takes one of them to break the other.

The funny thing is John Molina has a higher KO percentage (67%) than Provodnikov (63%).

Mathysse got this. FOTY no doubt. I think mathysse will show case his boxing skills in this fight. Prov knows one way to fight, and that's to come forward swingin for the fences. Mathysse breaks him down early rounds for a late stoppage. Of course both have one punch ko power so it could end at anytime. This fight should have been under card for may/pac.

                      It would have overshadowed May/Pac.
