A motivated Kirkland is a killer in the ring.
Canelo better be prepared, Kirkland is the kind of guy who can put a beating on you than can end your career.

This is a really good fight that could honestly go either way. Personally, I think Canelo has all the tools to handle someone like Kirkland but to cross James out of the equation would be ignoring the fact that he is a good fighter himself.

People seem to be banking alot on Kirkland's Ishida fight but I don't, I honestly believe Kirkland poses a real threat to anyone at 154 lbs(155). Sure Ishida stopped him in 1 round after knocking him down a few times but we all know Kirkland is extremely vulnerable early on and takes a few rounds to really get his engine going. However, once he does get into motion, that dude is a locomotive. I'm really looking forward to James surviving the initial Canelo onslaught and watching him test Canelo like no one has done so before. He has the power and resilience to not only push Saul to his limits, but to walk away victorious as well.

He has won 5 fights since dropping to Ishida including the "meh" DQ win over Molina, a solid win against Tapia and an impressive shoot out with a game Angulo.

If anything the only thing that seems a bit off about Kirkland would be his inactivity. Hopefully it won't be a massive factor but Canelo himself has been out for 10 months. Although it's not nearly as long as James, they are both going to need to shake off the ring rust come fight night.

I really see this as a lose/lose situation for Canelo in the eyes of most boxing fans. If he wins, people will shake their heads and claim he's an overhyped bum who beat a no hoper glass chinned bum in Kirkland. If he loses, folks will rejoice and clown Canelo for the rest of his career in the sport. He'll get no credit whatsoever regardless of the outcome of the fight, at least, in most peoples eyes.

Personally I think it's going to be an explosive fight with a strong undercard(if Gomez vs Soto is still a go). To top it off it comes one week after the mega fight showdown and right before GGG and Roman headline another HBO card themselves. What really sweetens the deal for me is the fact that this fight isn't PPV Good stuff.

I always disliked Kirkland but I'll be rooting for him. Let's go Kirkly!

            EDIT:
As it's always the case vs Canelo, Kirkland should weather the storm early on and wait for Canelo's punches to lose some steam.

I think this is my first fight EVER going for Canelo, but Canelo wins this.

Some rounds might be a little tuff.

              Overall easy fight for Saul.

After the Ishida fight people began to question his chin. But I remember his fight with Joel Julio. He took some heavy shots in that fight and never flinched.

Makes me believe that fighting Ishida he was simply not at his best and not motivated.

Against Canelo on the big stage Kirkland will be motivated. It's a tough fight and I sense potential FOY here.
