Comments Thread For: Roach Using De La Hoya Loss For Mayweather Strategy

ODL had fought once in 3 years prior to the Floyd fight and admitted to doing coke and other drugs leading up to that fight and he still almost got the decision. A younger Hoya would have won that fight.
Pac is an active fighter just outside of his prime and has the speed to give Floyd trouble.
Now Floyd has usually adjusted pretty easily to those type of guys and figured them out, but if Pac can take the early rounds with activity and make Floyd engage it could be interesting.

Mayweather fans laugh at de la Hoya saying he had the blueprint to beat mayweather, yet he was old and over the hill and mayweather was at his peak and yet de la Hoya arguably beat mayweather. He does have the blueprint bit didn't have the athleticism anymore to win convincingly but Manny is an athletic freak at this point compared to de la Hoya back then and mayweather has slowed considerably since then.

I have nothing against Manny, I like the sport, or the Sweet Science. Hit, and don't get hit.
How does TOY, correct Manny lunging at a taller fighter, and stay on balance?
How will Floyd Sr., put Mayweather in a position to withstand the volume punches from Manny?
I joined this forum to discuss the fight, not the BS discussion regarding Floyd or Manny's personal life. Both is shady.
Go back and look at old fights. Explain why Freddie hasn't corrected these flaws in Manny's style. when Floyd feints, how will Manny react? Look what Marquez, and Algeria did to Manny with feints.
Hell, forget the game plan. Protect your fighter against the most accurate puncher in the game, who does have power.
I think there are far too many weaknesses in Paq for this to be anything but a boxing exhibition from Floyd.
For starters anytime Floyd has had the physical advantage he's obliterated to competition. He's bigger, stronger, has a longer reach, and is taller. I dont see how Paq overcomes those physical shortcomings. I dont see him being able to box his way into range to unleash those rapid fire punches. I pray for his soul he's not banking on lunging in recklessly like he has traditionally. I dont see his power as this equalizing factor anymore either. There's no way you could tell me hes bringing more power than Canelo or Maidana brought. (who both also outweighed him by damn near 20+ lbs) And I dont think he gets that left off anyway. I mean Tim Bradley managed to last 24 rounds without getting caught by it. I see Floyd controlling distance early on and Manny getting frustrated because he doesnt have the footwork or boxing acumen to get his offense off. I see Manny tiring like he does in most of his fights (call it leg cramps or whatever) with mayweather taking over late.
