Jose Benavidez Sr. has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that his son's return to the ring will be a home coming for the Phoenix resident. The fight will take place on May 15th against Jorge "Maromerito" Paez Jr. (38-5) at the US Airways Center which is the home of the Phoenix Suns. Jose Benavidez Jr. (22-0) will be defending the WBA interim super lightweight title he won in December when he defeated Mauricio Herrera in Las Vegas, Nevada.

These TruTV fights look very good on paper. I'd rather see these type of action fighters over Haymon guys like Andre Berto, the Charlos, or the Dirrells. Hopefully these fights rate very well and they move the show to one of their larger sister networks like TNT.

This is a step down for Benavidez, I know he got a gift decision in his last fight against Herrera but still they should have found a better opponent.
