Comments Thread For: Hatton: Pacquiao Looking Better Than Ever Since KO Loss

Former world champion Ricky Hatton is picking Floyd Mayweather Jr. - by a very small margin - to beat Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Hatton was knocked out by Mayweather in ten rounds in 2007 and then suffered a brutal two round knockout at the hands of Pacquiao in 2009.

Pacquiao himself suffered a vicious sixth round knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012. Since that loss, he's beaten Brandon Rios, Timothy Bradley and Chris Algieri - and Hatton says the Filipino superstar has looked better and better. On the other end, Hatton has noticed a physical decline in Mayweather based on his performances against Marcos Maidana in 2014.

I wouldn't say better than ever. For a guy who got put to sleep he is fighting like there's no effects from it.

I don't think he has looked better, just not as wreck less and gung ho.. Manny boxes from the outside a lot more and setups up his shots more

I think the one aspect where he looks better is he's not as reckless. He was reckless as f**k against JMM in Pac/Marquez 4. He was jumping in with no regard and he finally paid the ultimate price for it. Now he resets quicker. He's still very aggressive and nearly just as fast as always, but appears smarter and more disciplined. He gets off his combinations and then gets out quicker and then rinses and repeats.

He definitely earned my respect, how a fighter regains his confidence after a loss like that is beyond me.
