FREEPORT, IL – Tickets are still available, but moving fast, for “An Evening Honoring the G-Man” on Saturday, March 28. The event at the Masonic Temple Ballroom in Freeport, Illinois, marks the 20th anniversary of the epic, yet tragic, super middleweight title fight between Gerald McClellan and Nigel Benn, with proceeds going to aid with Gerald’s medical bills, medication, and the costs of the event.
McClellan, 47, the former world middleweight champion, remains under the 24-hour a day care of his sister Lisa. He is blind, cannot walk without assistance, and he has suffered with a colon ailment related to his nervous system being altered permanently by his last boxing match, which saw Benn score a tenth round knockout after one of the most memorable fights ever seen in the sport.
