He's referring to the politics in team selection and the like. With the sheer number of boxers in a country like Russia competing for a relatively small number of places that stuff is inevitable.
Why would they be against him and side with other Russian boxers?
Some fighters are better "connected", as a boxing fan you should already know how this works. The better connected guy tends to get the nod if it's close.
It's a boxing issue, not strictly a Russian boxing issue.
