Comments Thread For: Chavez-Fonfara: Amir Imam To Face Walter Castillo?

According to sources in the Florida gyms, there is some discussion of undefeated junior welterweight contender Amir Imam (16-0, 14KOs) will face dangerous Walter Castillo (25-2, 18KOs) on April 18th, as part of the Showtime televised card to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Andrzej Fonfara, which takes place at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Castillo has won nine fights in a row since losing a ten round split decision to Vicente Mosquera in 2012. It should be noted that Castillo is still being listed for a stay busy fight on March 26th against Angino Perez in Hialeah, Florida.

Chavez is in very tough here and will probably get whupped. Fonfara is a very hard man. Stevenson hit him with everything and still Fonfara kept coming unhurt and unfazed like Jason Vorhees. "Superman" began to wilt and Fonfara was going to KO him but Stevenson used a few strategic hugs to recuperate. Best of luck to Fonfara, he looks like a nice kid and he deserves to be champ!

Yea I agree! Fonfara is a good boxer for the fans to watch. He loves to tough it out and shows his heart in every fight. I really want to see him rematch Stevenson...I think if Fonfara had a few more rounds than Stevenson would've been toast. If he puts together a solid fight vs Chavez then this fight should end before 12.
