to be fair what other southpaws would they would have found in/around thier weighclass that would have been better? this is about the best option they had.

No, looks like they are working on countering Floyds Jab to the gut (when Floyd uses it, it makes his opponents reset their offense. The Jab to the gut is a game changer! Roach / Manny have definitely done their homework, and Manny has to be able to make Floyd not use it as much.
