A lot of it depends on how well you look after yourself during your career too.

Mayweather is nearly 40 but considered boxings best fighter. Hopkins is still performing at very good level at near 50. The reason why is because these guys have always remained in shape even when they're not in a training camp for a fight. They train anyway. Pacquiao is nearer to 40 than 30, Marquez is 41...again, guys who you never really see looking out of shape.

I will bet Broner is shot by the time he's in his 30's because he only trains when he has a fight coming up, the rest of the time he's gaining weight.

There will always be exceptions of people who stay in shape but decline fast, it's nature. But i believe because of better diet and nutrition these days, it is very possible to be elite and near prime when you're in your 30's or approaching 40. These nutrition and diet is only useful if you're willing to put the work in and dedicate yourself though, but not many really do.

Still being at the top in your late 30's is as possible as you're willing to make it.

No. Nowadays athletes in general can perform into their 40s, it will be more and more common. Huge factors are how you take care of your body, the punishment you take throughout your career, and how early you started.
