Comments Thread For: Gilmour and Cornish Turn Down Dillian Whyte Eliminator

Tommy Gilmour, the manager of Scottish heavyweight prospect Gary "The Highlander" Cornish, has thrown cold water on the BBBoC’s plan to match his charge against London’s Dillian "The Villain" Whyte in an eliminator for the British title. The Board mandated the match last week, only for Gilmour to reveal that he wants to take the 27-year-old to world title contention via another route rather than going for the Lonsdale title.

In other words, Cornish's manager wants nothing to do with "The Villain", and I don't blame him for that.

Maybe AJ will be up for it?

Great... clears the path for a Joshua/Whyte grudge match.

It's apparent that Tyson Fury's going to relinquish the Lonsdale belt soon, so why not just match Whyte with cousin Hughie for the vacant title?

Gary Cornish is a 20-0 boxer who has never fought anyone he has been knocked down by journeymen the higher ranked Dillian Whyte would have destroyed him.

Gilmour and Cornish should be ashamed they withdraw and then say they would fight anyone! Gary Cornish has the most padded record in UK boxing and should never be given another eliminator by the BBBofC.
