The belt doesn't matter, it's just three letters. He's already got 3 others. It's the lineal distinction. Which he can only get by fighting Stevenson.

That's really all it comes down to. Same with GGG and Cotto.

I expect Sergei to become a PPV attraction very soon.
wouldn't be shocked if the vast majority of that purse came from Canadian PPV and the massive live gate in Montreal; if Kovalev's share of the actual HBO money even came to $1m, I'd be shocked.

Kovalev is 31 and Golovkin is already 33 (after a ridiculous 350-fight amateur career); Canelo is just short of 25, but what 'legit future stars of the sport' are you talking about.

Last I checked, Wilder(29), Anthony Joshua(25), maybe Tyson Fury(26), Charlo twins (24), Julian "J Rock" Williams(24), Erickson Lubin(19), Keith Thurman(26), Kell Brook(28), Amir Khan(28), Erroll Spence Jr(25), Danny Garcia(27), Adrien Broner(25), Omar Figueroa (25), Abner Mares(29), and Chavez Jr(29), among others, all don't fight on HBO.
