Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain is expecting that his greatest pupil, former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, will retire from boxing. Marquez, now 41-years-old, has not fought since May 2014, when he defeated Mike Alvarado by unanimous decision at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

Later in the year he decided to resume his training, but he has not been able to go full stream in the gym due to a lingering knee injury. Marquez made his debut on May 29, 1993 in Mexico City. He had 64 fights, of which he had won 56, lost seven and drew one.

Since he won't fight Pac, or May... He's already retired in my book. Nothing left for him. He can go do donuts in his Ferrari on his farm.

If he wants to fight Pac or May winner, that's all that should be left for him.

Marquez is a warrior. Greatest trait is is ability to get back up, adjust, and fight back after being knocked down. That's a nice trait.

Overated defence. Man has been knocked down and hurt too many times to say he has 'elite defence'.

Elite counterpunching skills with great power.

Absolute solid 3 division champ at 126, 130, 135. He easily had the ability to do it at 140 as well. IMO, beating Fedchenko isn't enough but I'm sure he could've beaten a champ at 140 ie. Rios/Alvarado. Very great accomplishment either way. Not many can do it.

Nacho calling him 'very humble' ...no. He is not. He is very unsportsmanlike and whines too much.

Great career. Best wins are Pacquiao and Barrera. He has some other solid wins outside of that. But his loss to Bradley sums it up. His style is limited to look good against certain fighting styles.

Marquez is a ducker. Ducked provodnikov, Rios, Guerrero, Khan. Took soft fights in Fedchenko and Likar Ramos, while trying to get Pacquiao,...while PAC had to take continuous tough fights.

Marquez has questionable ethics. Drinking piss and associating with a known PED dealer has led to su****ion. Drinking urine, his tendency to whine, and the signs of PED use,..body transformation, acne on chest, knee damage, never taking random testing will always raise question marks.
