This is absolutely pathetic if true. I don't understand why everyone is clamoring for boxing to be mainstreamed. It will with out a doubt water down the sport. Not only that it will censor the sport and the sport overall will be catered to be people who don't even give a **** about boxing. Like football and basketball with all their fruity PC jargon and are under constant scrutiny and evolution from the mainstream media. I say **** that, I don't want to see this respected competitive professional sport become simply entertainment on a Friday night. Hard core fans would say themselves that the sport shouldn't be reflective of the consumer but of the fighters themselves. That is what makes it so great. Nothing is more exhilarating and poetic then watching large sums of money, respect, and professionalism divided between two men who will fight within the confines of boxing. Andre Ward vs Ricardo Mayorga? What kind of ret*rded cr*p is this!? This makes Roy Jones vs Felix Trinidad look legit. A major disgrace to sport if this is how Wards management believe he should come back. I mean seriously this over analyzed, over protected management is the most idiotic business plan. Boxers raising the bar for themselves comes in the form of them beating odds and expectations, not being "smart" and taking the easy less dangerous route. If Ward was a true All Time Great then he would at least be fighting a name guy at 168 and then demanding the best in the division. That is how you raise a fighters stock. Ward is more then capable of doing so. But his management like haymons is more destructive then Top Rank could ever be to a ATG's career. I will tell you one thing, if a top fighter in Top Rank's stable told Arum he wanted to fight big names Arum would have no problem. What Arum has a problem with is Fighters picking and choosing who is the best opponent for them to compliment their style alone. Shows you why TMT promotions fighters suck. They fight who they want, they are not very well rounded, and have not had to overcome adversity like true champions. They were just given it.
