Is it safe to assume Kovalev cannot box off his backfoot?

Kovalev and Golovkin are fighting on their backfoot and move laterally, but only for few moments until they resume attacking -- usually by shifting (which clearly confuses their opponents).

Bradley and Herrera did against Provo and so did Alvarado (@times) & if u notice they won (with the exception of Mike) by keeping him from putting his power in the lead leg.

Same for Kovalev, when Pascal countered and moved Kovalev back, that's when he looked his worst. If pascal had power at 175, if could been a different outcome.

Bradley and Herrera won by accumulating points while moving backwards. When they stood their ground their got their faces ripped off and aborted it. Alvarado was simply outgunned at his own game.

We've seen pretty clearly how to beat Provodnikov (Algieri) and it's most definitely not standing your ground.

Stevenson is going to do better than alot of people realize. This fight was always 50/50 but Stevensons reluctance to fight clouded the minds of many people into thinking Kovalev easily dispatches him and thats not the case at all. With all that said Kovalev is still the best Light heavyweight in the world.

Don't forget, GGG cannot go 12 either.

Kovalev taking a step back and shooting a cross to knock down Hopkins isn't fighting off of the back foot; he had control of center ring and had B-Hop cornered at the time of the KD.

Kovalev would still be proficient boxing off of his back foot, but he wouldn't be the elite fighter he is, if he ceded center ring to his opponents.

The problem is that ring generalship is part of his boxing ability and he's going to have to be coerced into fighting on the back foot. Ouma was able to push GGG backward and stand his ground, but he wasn't good enough defensively to be able to withstand GGG's offense and win.

Why do people assume that fighting off the back foot, you have to be running backwards like cottos when he's hurt
