IF it were to happen, it would have to happen at 175 with no catch weight and with Kovalev's titles at play, if he still has them a few years down the line when this fight might be possible. I would only want to see this fight happen as a natural progression in GGG's career and not as a one off shot where he would return to a lower division afterwards.

Yes it is far fetched. Team GGG is not ******. They will probably some day fight the best 168 pounders but would draw the line at fighting a great and extremely hard punching light heavyweight Kovalev. Kovalev weighs 189 rock hard pounds on fight night. That's more than 20 pounds more than GGG weighs on fight night. Two great fighters but Kovalev is about 23 pounds bigger so it's not a fair fight. Just let both men be great in their own proper weight class.

If the money is there it'll happen.

MW champ vs LHW champ has been a major deal in the past. Greb vs Tunney, Hopkins vs Tarver. Hagler declined Spinks' offer, but who would blame him.

No idea. I would have to have seen how much power GGG retained while fighting as a SMW for at least a year or two before this fight could happen and how Kovalev's skills evolve or even devolve over the same period of time.

BUT...If GGG was to maintain an equivalent power to weight/size ratio that he currently possesses, I would think he would win by KO or TKO as his power would exceed that of Kovalev and his skill set is much better than Kovalev's today.

Doubt Golovkin ever goes to 175. If he does, it's not likely to be within the next five years. Doesn't seem like a fight we're likely to see.

Yes, it's far-fetched and this is a ridiculous thread.

GGG is a small 160lber and has never even fought at 168lbs yet. Not happening, sorry.
