Lol even roach told you what would happen if he tries to "catch" floyd and chase him. Floyd is more versatile man, not hating on manny at all hes great but he just doesnt have the smarts and isnt as crafty as floyd bro

I'm not clear why Roach is talking like he's going to have Manny do something that he hasn't done in his entire boxing career. Manny changing styles will prove more problematic and difficult than the fight itself.

Manny is a come forward fighter, always has been and always will be. Attempting to break that habit with so little time, seems like a confusing attempt. Roach can talk plans and planning all he wants but the moment Manny gets clipped with a good shot, he's going to revert to what he does best.

Manny's style allows for trapping, leading-ins and set-ups, because he doesn't approach the fight like a chess match. He comes to fight without consideration!!

Floyd is going to have many opportunities to walk Manny into traps because that is how he fights. Whether he's going to be successful will depend largely on how he chooses to fight this fight.

The two fighters will collide for the WBO/WBA/WBC welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Roach reflects back on Pacquiao making one fatal mistake against Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round of their fourth meeting in 2012, where the Filipino star lunged in and got knocked out cold by a Marquez counter. Mayweather is a better counter-puncher than Marquez and often forces fighters to follow him around the ring while breaking them down with counters as they get within range.
Floyd is not only going to destroy Manny, he's going to look good doing it. Think Floyd/Gatti. It's gonna b a flawless victory (KO).

The other problem is Floyd is way bigger so he gets to choose when to really throw because he has a much larger range, plus Floyd is better inside (which is one of Manny biggest issue in the whole fight and something they should work on most because Manny is offensive so he can pick that up quick perhaps).

If Manny had an equal range he could look to exchange like with JMM and that might work because it took JMM a long time to work that out. He doesn't though so he needs to hope he can out man Floyd totally and find his range a lot more than guys do against Floyd.

The game plan is everything Freddie, get it right.

Pacquiao got to be constantly moving, don't let Floyd get set, and set traps for him.

It won't be an easy fight for either of them, and they'll both have to be at the top of their games to win.
I agree, this fight could go either way. For Floyd's sake he better hope he Is able to move continuously for 12 rounds.

hes gonna run face first into a buffet of counters. lead rights, leaping left hooks, jabs. .manny better bring a bib to the ring, hes eating leather all night.

the KO by marquez wasnt "one mistake" thats just how he fights. even algieri timed the lunge and caught him a few times. thats a habit, he cant suddenly just stop doing it.

floyd gonna play patty cake with this fools open face.

You can't change your nature. Manny lunges and he over commits with his punches. He WILL be tagged with right hand leads AND he will be countered.

He might and he might not. The key against Floyd is denying him the luxury of choosing his ground. Forcing him to back-pedal rather than allowing to move where and when he wants, and to set his traps in the process.

That's why the jab is generally regarded as so crucial against Floyd because it's the best weapon for doing just that.

But Maidana showed that you don't necessarily need a great jab to do this, the threat of a difficult to anticipate shot like Maidana's unorthodox overhand right was enough to get Floyd backing straight up.

So while Manny doesn't have the jab to control Floyd's movement, he does have the southpaw straight left which is a significant weapon against the philly shell. Combined with Manny's unusual rhythm and the speed and feints he brings to the table, it's probably enough to put Floyd on edge and exert some control over his movement, making it much harder for Floyd to fight at his own pace and set things up the way he would like.

In any case, I wouldn't pay any attention to anything Roach is saying about tactics or strategy. It's not like he's going to be revealing his real thoughts to whatever random media dude asks him a question.
