Comments Thread For: Roach: Pacquiao Can't Follow Floyd and Walk Into Shots

Trainer Freddie Roach is preparing Manny Pacquiao to throw punches at all times. He doesn't want Pacquiao to fall into traps on May 2nd, by following Floyd Mayweather Jr. around the ring without being active with his hands. The two fighters will collide for the WBO/WBA/WBC welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Roach reflects back on Pacquiao making one fatal mistake against Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round of their fourth meeting in 2012, where the Filipino star lunged in and got knocked out cold by a Marquez counter. Mayweather is a better counter-puncher than Marquez and often forces fighters to follow him around the ring while breaking them down with counters as they get within range.

Roach like Pacquiao's fans doesn't seem too confident about this fight. He keeps saying how good Mayweather is and how Pacquiao has to be perfect.

Acknowledging how good an opponent is doesn't mean they lack confidence. It's more of a case of him not overlooking Mayweather.

Roach: floyd doesn't make mistakes much, pac must fight a perfect fight.

Flomos: roach is scared, he doesn't have any game plan for floyd. Roach is shooked!

Roach: yes, I know manny will knock floyd out. We've been working on the perfect style for floyd and I believe manny will deliver it.

Flomos: roach is so dumb, pac can't even knock out bradley and algieri and he's suppose to knock floyd out?

I don't think roach is worried about Manny loosing. He knows that in order to beat the, best fighter of this error, you have to have a solid and near perfect game- plan. Everyone that fought Mayweather says he is very brilliant in the ring. Mayweather makes mistakes, but they are far and few between. Pacquioa has to be on his A game. No jumping in and throwing punches while his feet are behind him. If Manny stays aggressive and balanced we may have a new UNDISPUTED champion.

The thing is Roach...... No one is perfect in the ring because like you said.... Floyd makes mistakes, not a lot but he does and Manny makes mistakes too, so your theory that Manny has to be perfect to beat Mayweather is flawed. When Manny loses I am willing to bet Roach said "Tonight Manny wasn't perfect". He had an off night, totally taking credit away from Mayweather. The perfect excuse was/is growing like a plant.
