When trying to save face goes wrong...man they saved you from yourself. End of story. This dude was hurt at least half of the rounds he fought...damn near fell on his own going to a neutral corner, hell you got called into action and couldn't come out of the corner either. Opponent walked across the ring, hits you with two bombs and you still couldn't react...but you were ok...playing possum...yeah right.

Wait so, Pascal gets knocked down rounds earlier, is hurt and takes some hard shots with no knockdown and it's a good stoppage, but Berto knocks Lopez down 2x in the same round and it's an bad stoppage?

Anyone who says it was stopped prematurely is an idiot. Kovalev almost koed Pascal, he was clearly out on his feet. First the ropes saved him from going down, then kovalev slipped, and while the ref had his backed turned Pascal was completely out on his feet stumbling all over the ring. When the action resumed, Pascal just kept his guard up and wasn't even looking at the punches kovalev was throwing. Kovalev nailed him with two bombs to the chin and Pascal was looking straight at the ground because he was defenseless and didn't even know where he was. One more punch to the chin could have jiggled pascals brain loose and killed him. Kovalev has done it before. Good decision by the ref only because Pascal was clearly out on his feet and therefore completely defenseless against those crushing blows to the chin

Its the same reason the ref stopped tyson-holyfield 1. Pascal and Tyson both have such strong chins that they can be completely out on their feet and not go down. Both Tyson and Pascal had taken considerable damage and at the time of both stoppages were in never ever land and almost completely defenseless against crushing blows to the chin. Pascal was clearly looking at the ground with his guard up and had no way to stop the punishment because he was out. Good stop from the ref. Does he need to be convulsing on the ground with blood coming out of his ears before the ref stops the fight?

Note to Pascal.
You should not indicate that you are ok by dropping your hands and continuing to take punches to the head. That will get the fight stopped.

Also, leave your kid at home. An 11 year old child should not be a witness to her father's beating. Even if he wins.
