Comments Thread For: Golovkin’s Trainer Still Wants Chavez Jr., Froch, Ward

Gennady Golovkin’s campaign at 160 isn’t over just yet. He’s facing prospect Willie Monroe Jr. on May 16 in Los Angeles, and trainer Abel Sanchez says the hope is to face other middleweight titleholders in 2015 before moving up to super middleweight in 2016.

There are three big-name opponents at 168 that Sanchez believes are realistic: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., titleholder Carl Froch, and lineal champion Andre Ward.

LOL, yea everyone wants to fight him, but Jr. would prefer to fight a bum every two to three years.

Ummm , Last I checked GGG is the middle weight champ, and Ward , Froch , and Chavez Jr are super middles weights, one weight division higher than GGG.

                  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This, with one tiny correction: GGG is THE middle weight champ. Cotto is a just a catch weight trinket holder. But why bother, that Cotto fanboy will defend his daddy to the bitter end.

I think it will be next year before these fights can happen.

Golovkin is waiting on the Cotto situation which probably won't be resolved till the end of 2015
