Comments Thread For: Sergey Kovalev-Jean Pascal: Post-Fight Report Card

It wasn’t quite a classic, didn’t quite meet the threshold of the fights the HBO announcers started to invoke. They didn’t quite hit the level of the Marquis de Saad.

Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal gave it a hell of a try. They gave us one hell of a fight.

Pascal has done this before. Win or lose, he has made memorable encounters with Carl Froch, Chad Dawson, Adrian Diaconu, and Bernard Hopkins. They weren’t all wars, but he is typically entertaining. The guts he showed in facing tough outs Froch, Dawson, Diaconu, and now Kovalev all when they were undefeated were plain enough to see.

Stevenson most certainly was the more reluctant of the two as he pulled out all the stops in avoiding Sergey. Please, let's let the blame rest where it should, and that's Adonis Stevenson. Even now we are uncertain if Stevenson will face Sergey, and that's ridiculous.

This fight totally erased the bad taste left from the two recent Haymon debacles. While it wasn't perfect, it was head and shoulders above the two PBC shows combined. That is good enough for me.

Adonis will never fight Kovalev because he will lose and he knows that, discipline with power wins fight, in or outside the ring. Fighters like Adonis and Pascal rely too much with one punch KO. Street fighting style will never work against Kovalev and Pascal was already a zombie waiting for a head shot before the ref stopped the fight.
