Gennady Golovkin’s next fight is set — he faces prospect Willie Monroe Jr. on May 16 in Los Angeles.

But Golovkin’s trainer is also hoping that Golovkin could end up facing David Lemieux later in the year. Lemieux will face Hassan N’Dam for the vacant IBF belt, likely this spring. Golovkin’s team is aiming at facing whatever other titleholders will face “GGG.”

GB won't throw away their second most valuable fighter this year when the fight could be worth so much more in 2016.

When they do fight, I could see a Hagler/Hearns type of fight, with Lemieux as Hearns and Golovkin as Hagler. Lemieux stuns Golovkin early and then quickly gets hunted down.
