Roy's speed would not be enough and you know that. His chin gets checked.
How can I take you seriously when the thread asks about them facing each other in their prime and you post fights of him past the age of 35

name one fighter that's in their prime at 35, let alone any athlete....you're a str8 troll man

SK getting hurt and dropped by lesser punchers and fighters with 1/3 of the talent and know how Jones had....you must think SK isn't gonna get hit by a fighter who is one of fastest fighter ever at that weight and he had over a 70% ko ratio in his prime.

In what world is Kovalev an ATG light heavyweight?

Not in this one, that's for sure.

Point is, Roy cannot take a punch, PERIOD. I don't care if he was 25, 15, or 35. Do you see Hopkin's getting KO'ed like that????? Or any other top fighter? You need a chin to fight SK and you cannot change that fact. Get mad all you want.

Roy fought numerous guys that punched just as hard as SK and wasn't KOd.

I watched his whole career, so yes I do.

He relied on reflexes a lot and so what? Kovalev is not quick or good enough to touch a prime RJJ. I saw RJJ beat HOFamers with ease in his prime. Have we seen Kovalev do that? No. We haven't.

Completely different stratosphere of fighters. RJJ does everything better than Kovalev. Everything.

So his first 50 fights didn't matter? Or the punches he took was make believe?

The older you get the worse your punch resistance n recovery is

I guess sugar ray Leonard's chin was always crap too....dropped twice by hearns in the rematch, dropped by Terry Norris...you really think a prime SRL gets stopped by hector Camacho? His chin was always crap...right?

Actually, I just sparred 8 rounds this morning. My nephew did as well. I know boxing. The hype of a fighter, the media, etc doesn't factor into my calculated opinion. Prime Roy fought a lot of body guards, ex cops, firemen, etc. I KNOW that and you KNOW that. He ducked plenty of fights man. The Nunn and Body Snatcher fights in particular. Now, why do you think he did that? Roy was never looking for a "fight". He was never touched in his prime because outside of James Toney and pre prime Hopkin's, he never wanted to fight the best. He was a **** talker like Floyd but didn't back it up in the ring. He made a lot of amateurish mistakes that an A Level fighter would take advantage of. You wanna talk boxing? Let's talk boxing but do realize that I KNOW boxing. I'm no Fanboy who just started watching 5-10 years ago. I am a legit boxing fanatic and fan of the sport who understands all aspects of the fight game. Roy was overrated just like Floyd is overrated. They are not ATG's. They are mere HOF'mers who ducked top level opposition. It's not hard to look great against B/C Level guys. You see what happened to Roy against Joe right? But just a fight earlier, he looked like legend against the same guy Joe owner, in Jeff Lacy. End thread.

People always mention Roy's chin in this matchup but what about Kovalev? you could argue his chin is suspect too.

Prime Roy was dropped once and he pretty much won every other second of that fight. I think the speed difference would be apparent from round 1 and Kovalev would have a hard time setting himself to land the shot that knocks him down and out.
RJJ chin is more suspect than Kovalevs.

You know RJJ did fight Mike McCallum right? And he had already beaten James Toney with ease ,who beat both Nunn and McCallum.

I think you're completely out of your depth. Michael Nunn did become Roy's mandatory at 175 I believe, but he was past it then anyway. No big fuss was made about it.

The fact that you put King in the poll question answers makes this whole question pretty much pointless.

Serious question, why are you so ******? I've noticed a troll pattern from you. It has to be on purpose.
