Curtis Stevens will be fighting Gabriel Rosado on pay-per-view on April 4 in Las Vegas, but it won’t be a traditional boxing match. Rather, it will be a bout under the new BKB, or Big Knockout Boxing, promotion, which takes place in a pit-style boxing ring with no ropes and shorter rounds.
And that’s OK with his promoter, Kathy Duva of Main Events.
“We made the deal for him,” she said. “It benefits Curtis Stevens because he’s getting paid a lot of money by someone who wants to pay it, and he gets kind of a free shot. It doesn’t go on your boxing record, but if you win you’ve kind of brought yourself back. He is in a position in his career where he needs to bring himself back and at the same time secure himself financially. This creates the opportunity for him to do that.”
