    Re-watched Margarito vs Santos

Was actually a very good fight I would recommend for anyone. Santos early really planted his feet and even managed to hurt Tony, I am sure the 10lb weight advantage helped since Margs was moving up from welter.

During rd 6 there was a clash of heads the reason which the fight was stopped after the start of the 10th. In the couple rds before that it looked like the pace was really getting to Santos and Margs was landing more frequently while Santos was on the backfoot more and more.

The judges gave it to Santos, I disagree and think Margs should have nicked the TD or gotten a draw because this was a close fight. It is also possible he could have stopped Santos late the fight was swinging in Tony's favor.

Best Punches landed; Santos badly hurting Margarito late in rd 1 and Margarito badly hurting and battering Santos on the ropes in rd 5.

Take a look if you ever get a chance.

Great, underrated fight. I think Santos' weight definitely helped. Plus, he hit hard. Santos almost always fought off his backfoot but Margarito kinda forced him into a firefight and I think that helped Santos because he was a big, hard-hitting lefty at 154.

I think the fight was still up in the air at the time of the stoppage. Margarito had been rallying for a few rounds but Santos enjoyed a real strong 9th or 10th, can't remember. Anyway, it's a testament to how good Margarito was that he was able to move up for one fight and go toe-to-toe, neck and neck with a top 154lber. And lose by one point in Santos' native country.

That hard left Santos landed in rd 1 was the only time up until the Mosley fight that he had really been buckled in any fight I have seen Margarito in.....not bad like 5 years without ever visibly being stunned. It speaks to both Tony's chin and Santos's power when he sat down on punches, inactivity ruined the guy I think.

Paul Williams had Marg wobbled just a smidge with an uppercut. I forget which round. It wasn't nearly as bad as the Santos shot though.

Danny Perez dropped him on the seat of his pants and one other fighter too -- I believe on Showtimebor perhaps another channel before Margs became champ.
