Bit harsh expecting Rigo to move up, dude is small the weight he's in already.

I get why some say to move up, really have no problem with it. But Floyd and Pac is a bad example. Pac and Floyd started as teens and there bodies naturally matured. GGG, Rigo and Ward are in there 30's where there at there limit or at least one wight class away from there limit.

I agree but we're talking 1 division. How old was Hopkins when he moved up to 175? Marquez moved up to 140-147.

When fighters dare to be great they move up.

I'm not saying they have an obligation to do so. But don't be surprised when they continue to get no fights.

By contrast, Golovkin was 27 when he became the 'regular' WBA champ (31 for full status). Ward was 25 when he beat Kessler. Rigo 30 when he beat Cordoba.

Fully agree here. Why doesn't Ward feel the heat to move up? He is DONE at 168 other than waiting for guys to come up. And his body frame will let him move up.

Ward has options at 175 anyway.

He can fight Stevenson or Pascal in Quebec Canada (If he ever decides to leave California) and those are big fights. A fight with Kovalev is a big fight. Even a fight with Lucian Bute is still a lucrative option for him. Plus he has a chance to win some belts in another division. So It's not like he doesn't have options at 175.

At 168, unless he gets Froch he's not going to be looking at too many big pay days. He's got maybe two options at 168 max. There's a Froch rematch and then there's the winner of Dirrell/DeGale. He better hope DeGale wins that one or he'll lose another potential matchup.

The number one argument defending them is "What about Hagler". Well the super middleweight division inaugurated in the early 80s late in Haglers reign. The closest division was light heavy which would have been a massive jump.

Mayweather and Pac regularly beat guys with 15 pound weight advantages. It's time for these fighters to do the same.
