  • Just informed my friend about Al Haymon's influence

For the past year or so my friend has been watching some boxing matches with me, and since a lot of fighters are managed by Haymon.. he tends to think Broner, Malignaggi, Porter, etc. are some of the best/proven/highly skilled fighters out there that are always in a true competitive matchup.

I don't think he took it well that I told him if he pays attention all these guys thank Al Haymon and they're usually winning their fights.

Casuals really don't understand how messed up the sport is. With four sanctioning bodies, corrupt minded managers/promoters, multiple belts, and a lack of prior boxing knowledge its hard for casuals to even get past boxing's face value of "its just two guys fighting and I want to see KOs."

Honestly though, I know where you are going with this and can't knock you for pointing out the obvious at least for the hard core boxing pundits like ourselves but if your friend is new to this and is slowly coming to appreciate the sweet science than don't taint it with the likes of Haymon.

Because, before Haymon there was Don King and with Don King there's still Bob Arum. We are just seeing a new set of crooks with new names same schemes.

Let your friend come to his own conclusion of what is painfully obvious to us and than maybe he will formulate his own opinion of the schemes that go on behind the scenes.

In short, don't spoil his pizza by telling him it's really liver and onions.

If your friend is too ****** to realize on his own after a year of watching how big of a role politics play in boxing, he should be castrated to prevent his seed from spreading.

I agree with this. let the casuals be casuals. alot of the same people on the al haymon/free boxing for the masses bandwagon are pretty harsh. the casuals aint on my level, kill yourself but watch boxing and support pbc.

Thats extreme. I used to think Bob Arum was the worst and most crooked promoter, for years. He's bad for sure, but Haymon? He is the most machiavellian, in a business with machiavellian schemers everywhere.

Boxing has been corrupt as hell for our entire lives, I'm just more surprised (jealous more than anything) that there are people out there who still watch it with some level of naivety.

Absolutely a hater move; probably the type of person that tells a five year old kid that wrestling is fake. smh.

Bet you failed to mention that when Malignaggi got blitzed in 4 rounds, he got blitzed by a fighter that said 'Thank You, Al Haymon', or that Adrien Broner also got mollywhopped by a fighter who said 'Thank You, Al Haymon', or that Porter lost his first title defense, by a wide decision, even though he says 'Thank You, Al Haymon'.

the dislike for the man is unreal

you're a joke if you think that is true.

Of course I made it clear despite Haymon fighters fighting their fights, its possible to lose and all that jazz. Its still boxing.

By the way, his dad broke it to him when he was 8 that wrestling was fake. So its not like it matters.

Should've told your friend that pretty soon everyone is going to be a Haymon fighter so there will be no more reason to whine when a Haymon guy wins...
