Comments Thread For: Hearn Trying To Get Marquez, Rios For Brook on 6/13

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is trying to get the biggest fight possible for IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook on June 13th at Wembley Stadium. Brook must first overcome his mandatory challenger, Jo Jo Dan, on March 28th in Sheffield.

If Brook is successful at the end of the month, he will move forward to a big fight in June. Hearn has already made contact with the appropriate parties in order to secure former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez or welterweight contender Brandon Rios. Marquez has been inactive since last May's decision win over Mike Alvarado and Rios demolished Alvarado in their trilogy meeting in January.

Rios then, and he'll probably get his face broken.

Those are greats fights for Brook, especially marquez.. I think that would be huge in the UK..

Marquez would easily be the biggest foreign boxing star to fight in England in probably decades...

Hardly, Hearn has been trying to get Khan for months. He keeps talking Marquez but JMM has never sounded that keen.

In reality, what would take Marquez to England to fight a big welter who has fought at JMW, with power and boxing ability? The money won't be that good and drug testing will be pursued.

Maybe you're right and Marquez will fight him, but Rios seems a far more likely option.

Khan fight wasnt going to happen logistically before Ramadaan.

Marquez wants his belt at 147lb. If he was concerned about money he would have taken another fight with Pacquiao.

Rios is with Top Rank and they'll probably pursue internal options such as Bradley over Brook.

Surely if he was concerned about the belt he would have taken it too?

If you want belts why do you fight Alvarado? As far as titles go, the guy didn't want a Pacquiao rematch, didn't want a Mayweather rematch, didn't want to fight Porter but now we're expected to believe he fights a big welter like Brook on the other side of the Atlantic? I'd happily be wrong on this but forgive me for my skepticism.

He took a Bradley fight over Pacquiao which would have gotten significantly more money to get Bradley's belt and "wanted to keep that feeling". He fought Alvarado because he was coming off a loss.

He then wanted to fight the winner of Brook v Porter and Brook won and has been pursuing that fight and will get that fight because Hearn knows its a great name for Brook's resume and susceptible at his age and current condition.

I forgive you for your ignorance
