Comments Thread For: Berto Believed Shoulder Injury Would End His Career

Andre Berto is much more appreciative of his boxing career now that it was nearly taken away from him.

Berto (29-3, 22 KOs) admitted during a conference call Monday he believed at times that the debilitating shoulder injury that kept him out of the ring for 13½ months in 2013 and 2014 would prevent him from boxing again. That’s how taxing surgery to repair a tendon in his right shoulder following a July 2013 technical knockout loss to Jesus Soto Karass and Berto’s subsequent rehabilitation was on the former welterweight champion mentally and physically.

    Berto

Always liked berto as a fighter and as a person. His fighting style brings excitement, though it may not be the best strategy for him on fight night. I would like to see him take on bradley after lopez. Great matchup.

I like Lopez and berto, but I think berto will win by ud. Lopez is going to bring it all night long but I think berto will eventually break him down.

I got Lopez taking this one,I actually wouldn't mind a trilogy between these guys....probably better than Rios versus that coke head Alvarado.

It's not the shoulder injury, but him doing the shoulder roll will end his career...

He just needs to stop with that defense

If Berto wanted to make that fight happen all he would have to do is break his leg,Cotto would be at the hospital with a contract before the ambulance arrives.

Kim & Montoya were talking about Berto on their podcast last night, guess Berto hasn't been looking good in training camp and they were going with Lopez.

If Berto loses it's because he has nothing left. Berto had a ton of easy spoon fed opponents early his career that inflated his record and over hyped him. But he simply never progressed as a fighter. Then when he finally stepped up in class he lost. He's now been in many wars. Yes Berto is damaged goods but Lopez is a C class fighter. Berto should win this fight and then will be fed to the wolves. He's just a gate keeper if he wins.
