Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto Starts Swinging, Fires Back at Bob Arum

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto has come out swinging, verbally, after a recent interview conducted by his former promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank.

Last Thursday, Cotto officially announced that he signed a promotional agreement with Roc Nation Sports. Arum, and Top Rank President Todd duBoef, were very upset with the way everything played out.

Top Rank had promoted Cotto from the start of his career until December 2011, when the boxer's contract expired and he officially became a free agent. He was recently working with them on a fight by fight basis.

Bob Arum is truly an idiot if he wants us to believe his lies. When people do business or talk business at the level of pro boxing, they don't do it by coming to an agreement and saying things like "I swear on my father" or "I swear on my kids", they come to a verbal agreement and shake hands. If your going to make up a lie, atleast make one thats believable. Bringing Cotto's deceased father in to this isn't respectable in any way, shape, or form on Arum/TR's behalf.

I don't care that Cotto left but he wasn't professional and burned a lot of bridges in the process. His manager did so many interviews talking about negotiations with Canelo and that was obviously a lie. Cotto had no interest in making that fight. He was working on this Roc deal the entire time. Could of just manned up and told Top Rank and told Golden Boy.

By my math .... That's three strikes for Arum, with three top tier fighters.

Common denominator = Arum is a liar and

Without beating an already dead horse Cotto like DLH and Floyd seen the wolf in the hen house and closed shop by moving on to bigger and better things. Can't fault Cotto for the obvious.

So..... Cotto, May and Oscar all left saying the same thing about money not being right. Pac really needs to see the trend here and I hope he does.

Cotto with a left to the body and down goes Bob Arum!

All jokes aside the article states Cotto felt a scheme going on but won't elaborate plenty of info many don't know and we'll never know. But a big **** you to Arum Top Rank has been ****ted on these past couple of years.

Too bad he didn't do it even sooner. That's all I can say. Arum has always been about screwing everyone like their lives are games instead of doing fair business with them. There's a difference between playing hardball and negotiating hard, and just trying to cheat everyone. Arum isn't shrewd. He's just a bad person. There's a difference.
