  • Comments Thread For: Guerrero on Knockdown: I Knew I Had To Get Him Back

Last night former multi division champion Robert Guerrero lost a spirited unanimous decision to WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman. In the middle rounds Thurman started to pull away with the fight and dropped Guerrero with a big shot in the 9th round. Guerrero took his time getting up from the shot but once action was restored, he started attacking Thurman.

I think that's one of those losses you can actually gain some credit for. He showed immense heart and a fantastic chin. He had the crowd completely rooting for him after coming out swinging in the 10th and even stunned Thurman a couple of times. Good performance, fair result though.

      Gate keeper Guerrero

His new role is gatekeeper. He will let all up and coming stars know if they are ready for the big time or not.

He should have taken away Thurman's distance and trapped him along the ropes like he did late. Don't know why he was trying to box from a distance against a mover with almost a 10 pound weight advantage.

Guerrero did the best he could...

He was over matched in every way...He should be commended though for the heart & chin he displayed...Robert never gave up & unlike Molina actually tried to win the fight...

When you fight Guerrero he makes you earn the win that's for sure...Theres no gimmes with " The Ghost"...

People are way overrating Guerrero's performance. That clash of heads and the resultant swelling, which turned him into a pumpkin, forced Thurman into a gameplan based mainly on evasive movement with tactical strikes. He'd have been much more aggressive otherwise and would have knocked Guerrero out.

Guerrero can say what he likes but a rematch, where he'd likely not get the lucky head clash and injury for Thurman, would require a helluva lot more than a !"£$ing jab to reverse the scorecards (120-107 twice, 118-109 on the third and that was charity). He was outclassed in every department.

Guerrero did a great job. He would blitz Bonerhead.

I finally give Thurman his credit, and Ghost has heart for days.

I agree, I think people are overrating guerrero performance last night. That headbutt was nasty so Keith had to adjust. He beat Robert up last night. Ghost better thank his lucky stars that Keith suffered that headbutt. He wohldve been knocked out.
