People on here are hilarious. One win and suddenly a fighter is being compared to ATG, a true legendary fighter up there with the very best. Not to mention Thurman was in with a fighter has no really good wins at WW. A fighter who proved he was nowhere near top level at WW when Floyd made him look a club fighter and went life and death with a Japanese fighter who is barely top 50 in the division. This is no disrespect to Guerrero, tough guy and i think he should really campaign at 140. Thurman was a middleweight in the ring last night.

Thurman could go on to have a great career. He has a lot of talent but really putting him up against Duran in a fantasy match right now? Too much hype me thinks. He still has a lot of prove and yet to fight a top level fighter who matches him for size.

I think you are over-estimating the wit and intelligence of the posters who start these threads. A lot of them believe this stuff.

On a serious note it's hard to see too many of these current welterweight contenders being major figures in the sport in the years to come. Brook, Thurman, Porter, Garcia, Matthysse etc, all just solid without being anything special.

In fact, most of these guys are probably a little overrated simply because they're in the same division as Floyd and Manny and get lots of attention because of it.

As of right now, the special fighters in the sport seem to be elsewhere.

Finally someone injects some humor into this thread! This is the best comment on this thread. Why make these lame comparisons, 2 different eras. You had Duran in the REAL boxing era where they battled for 15 rounds and still wanted to go another 10! Guys today go 12 and can barely make it with a pulse past 8 rounds.

In all seriousness Duran would be indicted for murder after the fight for brutalizing Thurman for the 3 rounds it would last!
