It's all about marketability. It definitely helped De La Hoya out. Think about the best when it comes to most things and usually they are attractive. Looks do matter except when it comes to politics. They often look homely to say the least.

those guys are good looking by boxing standards... by most other standards they range from butt ugly to average
a few boxers who could genuinely be models; sergio, kessler, maybe dlh
however definitely, one of the hardest parts of being a pro boxer is getting a good promoter and if you're better looking than your competition, you probably get the first offerLast edited by ////; 03-06-2015, 12:08 AM.

What more could he have accomplished? Won world titles in two different weight classes, the only 2 weight classes he fought in. 2x at 140. IBF 140 champ in the early 2000s, 147 Ring/WBC/WBA/IBF in the mid 2000s, once again became world champ at WW in 2011 winning the IBF.
I mean, he certainly did better than winning employee of the month.
