Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto Officially Inks With Roc Nation Sports

After months of mulling his next move, Miguel Cotto finally has an official announcement regarding his boxing future. Only, it’s not to announce his next fight, but rather whom he will be rolling with for the remainder of his legendary career.

The only four-division titlist in Puerto Rico’s rich boxing history has confirmed his allegiance to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports, a rookie promotional outfit that has made headlines since entering the boxing fray last summer. Cotto’s move was confirmed Thursday morning following speculation over the past 24 hours.

Details of his future with the New York City-based company will be revealed during Thursday morning’s segment on ESPN2’s First Take, with additional news to follow in a formal press conference to take place Thursday afternoon in New York City.

Hello, I am Miguel Cotto. Today Miguel Cotto announcement of Roc Nation, yes. First, I'd like to tank Jay Z, an inspirational of mine. Next, we are to business. First, we bring Miguel Cotto Promotions to Puerto Rico for concert with Jay-Lo, Jay Z and Big Daddy Yankee. This big. Next, we bring Miguel Cotto fight to Madison Square Garden in June. To be announcement soon.

That's sounds more like GGG than Cotto.

Nice. Roc Nation picking up big names. War Roc Nation!

But as for Cotto..... who cares about him, really? He's only important for his "name." Dude lost to Austin Trout. He's way past his prime and just not a very good fighter. Much less at MW.

At this point Cotto is only good for selling tickets, attracting die-hard Puerto Rican fans and being a "name" on someone's resume. Nothing else. Nobody expects Cotto to take out any more top fighters for the rest of his career...... Lol. I know this pains the die-hards out there.... But Miguel Cotto simply isn't relevant in pure "boxing," anymore, only the business-side of boxing (which he is VERY relevant in)

I just can't wait til he's forced to vacate that Middleweight title and drop back down to his normal weight. Then maybe he can beat a couple of top 35 divisional fighters. Until then...... Hurry Miguel, take on your desired voluntary opponent- and then get out of the Middleweight division! Hurry up and let the King GGG fight for your vacant WBC title!

You're underselling a bit there m8. Yeah, he's at the tail end of his career and Roc Nation just wants his name value, but he's still capable of beating quality opponents. He's looked great his past couple fights, he's still got something left.

Andre Ward and Miguel Cotto are two strong names for Roc Nation. It will be interesting to see what they actually do with them.
