Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is pleased with the training switch to veteran coach Joe Goossen. The Mexican star is preparing for his return on April 18 in California against Polish light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara. Chavez was previously trained at one time by Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach.
The Showtime televised match will be the first fight for Chavez without the guidance of career-long promoters Top Rank. Chavez parted ways with them last year and signed up with adviser/manager Al Haymon. Chavez and Top Rank are now involved in a legal tussle over his fight contract.
