Why are you countering the article with "what would be easier for Bob Arum to do..." If it's easier for Bob Arum to do this same bull****, it doesn't make this right. So why are you even going there?

People wake up. This is just Roach playing to the media. Ask yourself how would Haymon know who Roach and Pac have hired as sparring partners plus have enough time to pay them off not to show up? I'm almost certain that sparring partners are not listed in the contract. I see this as whoever they may have attempted to bring into camp may have received a better offer to have an actual fight.
The only way Haymon would know who Roach is planning to bring in as sparring partners for Pac is if he is trying to bring in Haymon managed fighters.

Showtime weighed the fact that they could lose money on the Mayweather deal beforehand. Even Arum stated when the deal was signed that they would likely lose money. The risk is always weighed and considered. If if they weren't prepared to absorb the risk/loss, they wouldn't have made the deal.

Showtime OUTBID HBO. They totally knew what they were doing. In my opinion, it was more about grabbing market share and market share from HBO, than making a profit.

Very few people have a functional understanding regarding basic business/marketing strategies.

This situation is very similar in principle to Mayweathers deal with Shotime.

A very basic assessment is that RocNation are "leasing" Cotto's name/brand..... in much the same way that Shotime is leasing Mayweathers.

This whole "Mayweather is losing money for Shotime" rubbish..... is just that, rubbish.

Roc Nation will get exactly what they need from Cotto, which is the rights to market a very high profile player alongside their name/brand in order to assist them to establish themselves in what is a very tight market...... exactly like Shotime did with Mayweather.

The residuals/benefits are mainly market-share.

Here is the link pertaining the two guys that Roach picked to spar with Manny, their style is similar with those of Floyd. If these are the fighters that Al is said to pay off not to spar with Manny, then its really a big deal.
