No announcement yet.
At what point do we stop using the "GGG is being ducked" excuse?

Move up. Fighting these stay-busy MW's does nothing for his legacy. It's easy for us fans at home watching on TV and his handlers and HBO who are getting paid to be happy when he's knocking out guys who are 10 levels below him talent-wise. But Gennady Golovkin isn't just fighting for money- he's a throwback fighter. He wants to be great. Give him fights that further his "greatness."

I think he can beat Canelo at 155. Its worth the risk. Unless Kirkland beats Canelo and then he fights him or he brings Lara up to 160.
King is right IMO, GGG has to find a new way.

Forget GGG, just let him fight one MW, just one then we can talk about a fight with GGG.

Is that too much for a guy who basically put the network, his promotional team and handlers on his back for the past 2.5 years? They at least owe him that. Suck it up, take one for the man himself and let the dude solidify his greatness.
Beating Taureano Johnson or Sergio Mora does absolutely nothing for him anymore. We all KNOW he's better then those guys.
Its not easy getting name opponents when even bigger, proven guys like Froch and Kovalev are publicly reluctant

What Golovkin is currently doing has vaulted him from an unknown to one of the rising stars in boxing, has him landing fights he could never land before, and has him on the cusp of some big money fights. I'd say his team knows what the hell they are doing.
I guarantee by this time next year, Golovkin will have been involved in a high profile fight, or at least signed to fight one. What he's doing is actually the right way to build your name and become a star, but everyone seems to have forgotten that. Mayweather did it, Pacquiao did it, everyone worth a damn has to do it Golovkin's way at some point.

We're talking about a company who was able to afford paying Berto $1million to fight cab drivers. Gennady Golovkin is a fighter they've invested heavily in..... I'm sure they could muster up $750,000 or so to a top 15 SMW- who would happily accept that, to fight him.
SMW isn't exactly a money-division, besides a select few. Look at the 168lb rankings and tell me how many of those guys would decline a career- pay day against Golovkin.

He's landing fights because he's a MW champion signed with HBO. He wasn't landing fights because he was fighting truck drivers in Germany. Not sure exactly what you're getting at. Give any talented fighter a championship belt and sign him with HBO and he'll get fights and become a "rising star" by knocking everyone out. His team didn't exactly develop some rocket-science plan.
Golovkin is a talented fighters. His performances are what's making him a star. HBO is the platform delivering the performances. You're not going to be a rising-star getting big fights fighting part-time fighters in Germany or Kazakhstan................
It's been 2.5 years and he's yet to get a "big fight." Lomachenko has been in the USA for less than half that time and is fighting on a Mayweather-Pac undercard. So uhhh, yeah.Last edited by King_; 03-04-2015, 11:19 AM.
