    Rahman's Cornerman

Everyone has had a few opinions about how Rahman fought and how he should have handled James Toney.

I don't think much of the blame should be blamed on Rahman himself. It seems that his Cornerman made most of the decisions.

He was telling Rahman to jab and to keep Toney at a distance with his reach. He trained Rahman to keep his right hand tucked in the whole fight and that is what he did. He wanted Rahman to win each round by the jab...

So how efficent was this plan? Should Rahman be trained to fight a different way? What style would best fit Rahman for future fights?

The trainer's plan was fine. Keep jabing him and KEEP TONEY ON THE OUTSIDE. Had he done that the whole fight he would've won clearly. But half of the fight he elected to fight Toney on the inside. The problem with the plan was that Rahman didnt follow through with it all the way IMO.

Well from what I got from the fight was that his corner wanted to A) press the action in hopes that JT conditioning would be exploited B) To not finish any set of punches with his right but with a left hook.

For part A i think they were partially succesful as I think they made his conditioning more of a factor than if Rock used his regular style.

For part B I think they were also partially succesful in the latter part of the fight because he just didnt throw the right hardly at all.

rahman corner had a good plan of what he should've done... if he stuck to the plan he would've won more decisively... but i think rahman got frustrated cause he couldnt hit toney clearly and thats why he started to fight inside....
