No, it is cheating. This is boxing not UFC

And just diving on your opponent and hugging them tight is not something I want to see, you might like it. I don't

    And it is illegal.

SMH Fanboys now saying Floyd can cheat.

Holding is part of defense in boxing, excessive holding is when it's not permitable.

It still now allowed in the rules of boxing.

Fighter can come together in a clinch is sometimes unavoidable. If the have one hand free, the ref can let them fight.

Sometimes when a fighter is hurt he will try and hold, this is not allowed the ref will warn him. If he continues to do it and ignores the warnings, then points are deducted.

Floyd in the Maidana fight was using holding as a tactic, to stop Maidana's inside work and slow him down. This is illegal as well. It is not boxing. He should have been warned, points taking off and DQ if he ignores it all.

It is a tactic, fighters used it, when they really have to but it is illegal in the sport, and refs should clamp down on it. It is their job to do so.

It's allowable even on Ali's heyday, I guess it depends on the referee. If Pac's team insist to not let May clinch after throwing his punches, or to avoid getting hit when Pac gets close, then the ref may consider it. Again, it depends on the referee. Mayweather prolly told Bayless not to let Maidana smother him like the way he did on the first fight because it's unfair to him.

In one of the first drawn up rules of boxing it wasn't allowed.

            1. To be a fair stand-up boxing match in a 24-foot ring, or as near that size as practicable.

            2. No wrestling or hugging allowed.

            3. The rounds to be of three minutes' duration, and one minute's time between rounds.

            4. If either man falls through weakness or otherwise, he must get up unassisted, 10 seconds to be allowed him to do so, the other man meanwhile to return to his corner, and when the fallen man is on his legs the round is to be resumed and continued until the three minutes have expired. If one man fails to come to the scratch in the 10 seconds allowed, it shall be in the power of the referee to give his award in favour of the other man.

            5. A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state, with his toes off the ground, shall be considered down.

            6. No seconds or any other person to be allowed in the ring during the rounds.

            7. Should the contest be stopped by any unavoidable interference, the referee to name the time and place as soon as possible for finishing the contest; so that the match must be won and lost, unless the backers of both men agree to draw the stakes.

            8. The gloves to be fair-sized boxing gloves of the best quality and new.

            9. Should a glove burst, or come off, it must be replaced to the referee's satisfaction.

            10. A man on one knee is considered down and if struck is entitled to the stakes.

            11. That no shoes or boots with spikes or sprigs be allowed.

            12. The contest in all other respects to be governed by revised London Prize Ring Rules.

Manny by your standards must be a cheat then because he hangs on like a leech and the ref needs a crowbar to get his hands of anything he can grab .

Hussein did start wrestling as well and throwing Manny off. That is why you need a strong ref.

Tell them to stop, tell them to break, if they don't listen they get hard warnings or point deductions.

Do you want to see a hugfest?
