Comments Thread For: Frampton-Avalos Draws Nearly 2 Million Viewers On ITV

Carl Frampton stopped California's Chris Avalos in five rounds at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on Saturday night in the maiden defence of his IBF Super bantamweight title. The fight was terrestrial channel ITV’s first foray into boxing for over five years and a rare case of a free-to-air world title boxing match. [Click Here To Read More]

The fight should push through if Quigg accepts a 60/40 split in Frampton's favour.

frampton should go with rigo imo...frampton has the good to get the job done..he'll be top 5 p4p and he's already an icon over there..i think rigo would push him over 2 million..not to mention somebody in the states has to get on that fight as well

The difference is that the Quigg fight will likely be PPV.

Good numbers considering it was on at the same time as Match Of The Day.

            Impressive.

Free to air fights every now and again could do wonders for the sports popularity.

As far as I'm concerned Frampton is #1 @ 122Lb in Europe & the Commonwealth "And that's a lot of country's". However until he fights & beats Rigondeaux that's where he'll remain!

True. Think Frampton and his team see Quigg as easy work and his biggest payday - a beautiful combo. He'll then be WBA "regular champion" (the ******est title in boxing) and Rigo is the natural next step. Just hope ego's don't prevent Frampton-Quigg happening this summer....

Il be honest i thought the numbers would be higher. Froch vs pascal did 6 million with Khan on ppv the same time (also same night as pacquiao de la hoya) Hopefully itv stick with boxing but 2 million is not that great for a big channel like itv.

Think that's a bit unfair. There was little press and it was on pretty late for casuals.

Also 6 million can't be the UK audience!?
