Comments Thread For: Donnie Nietes Not Bothered By Switch in Opponents

World Boxing Organization light flyweight champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes, the longest reigning Filipino world champion who will be inducted into the prestigious "Flash" Elorde Hall of Fame on March 25, is not bothered by the change in opponents for his March 28 title defense at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Nietes (34-1-4, 20 KO's) was initially scheduled to face Luis Ceja of Mexico before the chairman of the WBO Championship Committee informed Nietes promoter/manager Michael Aldeguer of ALA Promotions that he would have to negotiate for a mandatory title defense against Francisco Rodriguez Jr with Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions.

Can't understand how Ceja was even in the mix as he's a below average, beaten pretty good by Baby Juarez, Nietes would've picked him apart...

Of course he's not bothered. Another cupcake either way. Nietes needs to move up if he wants to be challenged, he can probably win forever at this weight and with this competition

Nah his reign is coming an end shortly. JFR Jr. is developing multiple dimensions to his style and it seems to finally be coming together. The growth he showed from one fight to another is ridiculous. I'm confident now that Chihuas will remove Nietes' crown, one way or another. It won't be easy, but he'll get it done.
