  • Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury: I'm Ready, I Want Wladimir Klitschko Next

Tyson Fury immediatley set his sights on a showdown with Wladimir Klitschko after defeating Christian Hammer to retain the European heavyweight title at London's O2 Arena on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old Manchester fighter saw off his opponent after the towel came in from the German-based Romanian's corner during the eighth round.

Fury is the mandatory challenger for Klitschko's WBO belt and is also on the radar of WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

A UK-based bout is already under negotiation between the Fury and Klitschko camps and the Briton is already plotting a subsequent unification bout against Wilder.

Slow down big Guy! You are not and cannot out box Wlad ! Not sure if your work rate and inside game is good enough to beat Wlad.... you have to get to Wlad's chest - pressure - street fight - Wlad is a master at distance like his Brother Vitali - you need head movement and quick feet!

Good idea! Get paid and get back to caravanning.

After getting beat up, he'll have lifelong esteemed status in the Irish Traveller's community.

I wish Fury was serious about this and not just running off at the mouth.

I'd love to see Klitschko vs. Fury.

Ok, let's be truly serious people...Fury is a better boxer than most of the guys his size in terms of the variety of the punches he uses, fundamentally he isn't even particularly good though as a lot of his punches are just flicking shots because of his huge reach and are not hit with any particular conviction. The reason he can switch stances is because he isn't necessarily powerful with either side so he can work from either. Of course all this unorthodox style, size, and fighting heart as well as rough inside ability gives a different dynamic to a Wlad opponent.

However, Fury is made to look a better boxer than he is in his last few fights simply because he has been fighting cans or guys way past their best who are simply too small to reach him, have very limited skills, and poor workrates. He has essentially had his way with these guys like Hammer, Chisora etc. Hopefully for his sake it doesn't give him a false sense of security or confidence that he will be able to do that with Wlad.

Although he does have some advantages in reach and height against Wlad, it won't make too much difference in my opinion. His boxing ability won't help him much...does anyone actually think Fury will take centre ring v Wlad and be able to outbox him? It's never been done...I don't actually remember anyone being on the front foot v Wlad consistently.

If Wlad fought a ****** fight and let Fury work inside and be rough and basically tire Wlad with a high workrate, he would have a chance perhaps. However, from the look of Fury's last fights...he doesn't mind a hold himself...so I wouldn't be surprised to see the fight with Wlad go in something similar to this:

Wlad starts cautiously, Fury switches stances in the early goings, throwing out long flicking jabs to keep Wlad at bay...

Some clinching ensues...Fury tries to get rabbit punches and pitty patty slaps in on Wlad, tries to rough him up inside

Fury gets reckless after abandoning his boxing plan and gets put down and out by a left hook or right straight by Wlad

            Fight over.

Fury does not have the speed, power, or chin to be able to withstand Wlad's attacks whilst being able to unleash his own to finish Wlad, IMO.

Besides the way he acts all too often (both in and out of the ring) Tyson Fury looks far too much like a R. Crumb character for me to take him seriously. That plus his ever receding hairline (which makes his head seem too small for his body), his goofy smile with the overlong right canine, enough saggy skin for an entire season of "The Biggest Loser," in addition to his over wide hips and too narrow shoulders, with a voice straight out of cartoon central, and I can't see him as a serious challenge to Wlad under any circumstances.

Wlad's got some big, crazy lummoxes chasing after him in Fury, Wilder, and Briggs.

Can he fend off these thugs and retain his belt long enough to beat the Joe Louis record?

Or will Father Time finally catch up to Dr. Steelhammer?
