Comments Thread For: UFC's Dana White Applauds 'Ballsy' Haymon on PBC Move

By Rick Reeno - With the exception of the finalized blockbuster between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, the ‘Al Haymon takeover’ has been the biggest topic of conversation in the sport of boxing

For months, there were strong industry rumors that Haymon was planning to branch out on his own, under his Haymon Boxing banner, and secure several television deals to showcase his voluminous stable of fighters. That plan was starting to come together in early January, when Haymon reached a financial agreement with Golden Boy Promotions to walk away from their company with just about every single fighter that he managed/advised.

According to several sources with knowledge of his business strategy, Haymon was able to secure millions of dollars from several hedge funds. How much money was invested in his venture? Nobody knows for sure, but the most popular number being reported is $100 million dollars – and some believe the actual dollar figure is much higher. [Click Here To Read More]

Used to be a big Haymon hater but i can't fault the buy the guy now for bringing more boxing matches to television. The thing that's killing him in hardcore boxing fans eyes I think is the blatant ducks of other top fights that aren't under the Haymon Banner and that will drive away fans when the best aren't fighting the best. Other than that the more fights on tv the better.

People watching UFC fights will start catching onto PBC and start thinking why the **** they were watching MMA in the first place.

At the same time if they're paying Robert Guerrero 2 mil and guys like Santa Cruz 750k to fight his sparring partners it will be tough to keep spending that kind of money and keep a business afloat.

Yep. That's a lot of money, and it makes you wonder how much they're paying out for these PBC fights and whether they can really maintain it.

Will be interesting to see unfold.

Also says the Top Rank deal will likely be on TruTV.

Those guys aren't leaving Haymon even if they were getting 500k a fight. Haymon seems to always have the leverage in negotiating for his fighters, whether fight stipulations or getting them air time on TV, Haymon is the guy you want backing you right now.

Let's just hope haymon makes the best fights possible and not waste it on mismatches. I love the card on March 7th, I expect those fights (Thurman-Guerrero, Broner-Molina to be exciting). That's a good sign, I hope he keeps that up.

As much as I disliked haymon for blocking key fights from happening recently, I hope he does well because it would be great for boxing to be available on network TV.

That was when they had SHO paying the bill

I'm curious if there gonna release the purses for his NBC card cuz I don't see them getting the same level of money over there
