The 16 fight winning streak of Filipino Jimmy Paypa, 21 years old, came to a screeching halt when he suffered a first round TKO at the hands of Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Shingo Wake of Japan on Friday at the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Wake, who was making his fifth title defense, caught Paypa with a right left combination that dropped him and although the Filipino youngster beat the count it was clear that he was in no position to continue and the referee wisely stopped the fight with one second to go in the round.
