So Floyd dominated Oscar yet Castillo vs Floyd was a toss up? If Floyd would have done what Castillo did, you would say that Floyd dominated Castillo. You sure? Floyd dominated ODH and whitewashed Canelo yet because they were popular ODH won on a judges card and Canelo got a draw.
Shouldn't Floyd be worried that Manny will get a score like that if he dominates or a be on the wrong side of a 118-110 Bob Arum specialty like Leonard got over Hagler?

Floyd was with Bob when he 1st fought Castillo. while we disagree on who won, given where Floyd was at that stage of his career, its hard to argue the judges gave it to him because of who he was as you are suggesting he could get against Manny. Can we agree?
Ref's miss a lot of stuff. Floyd/Zab was pre ODH. It's hard to argue he got the same treatment then as you and others are suggesting he would get now. Can we agree?
watch Manny v JMM 2 and 3, as a lot of people think Manny was given "gifts" in those fights. Floyd doesn't get gifts either, he earns wins in tougher than expected fights, as every great fighter has done at some point and time.Comment

No. Canelo is today's example of who Floyd was back then. In my eyes, there was no way that the judges were going to give Trout that fight. Lara was in a similar position. The only way they would win is if it was a very obvious dominating performance.Floyd was with Bob when he 1st fought Castillo. while we disagree on who won, given where Floyd was at that stage of his career, its hard to argue the judges gave it to him because of who he was as you are suggesting he could get against Manny. Floyd was in the middle of his undefeated career when he fought Castillo, so it can be argued that an air of favoritism may have existed for him then.Floyd was with Bob when he 1st fought Castillo. while we disagree on who won, given where Floyd was at that stage of his career, its hard to argue the judges gave it to him because of who he was as you are suggesting he could get against Manny. I don't know how the ref missed Floyd stumbling back, and his glove touching the floor after Judah clocked him. Refs have called knockdowns for less. Was Steele looking into the audience, or at the fight? That was the 8th fight after Castillo 1, so any favoritism that existed before could certainly have existed then.
I expected you to go there about Manny vs Marquez 2 & 3. Do you believe Manny was given gifts in those fights? Or are you a Floyd fan just trying to make a point?Comment

Yes, that was a KD that wasn't properly called. How many of those have we seen? You can't have it both ways dude. You can't argue his stature now would cause him to get a gift over a fighter of Manny's stature then say the same could've happened more than 10 years ago when he was no where near where he is now. Come on dude.Floyd was in the middle of his undefeated career when he fought Castillo, so it can be argued that an air of favoritism may have existed for him then.

you are trying to argue the same "favoritism" was given to the same guy in fights where he was a "non ppv star" and in his 2nd ppv, will be given to him again in what is thought to be the biggest fight in 40 years. You are not accounting for any changes whatsoever.
How does one get favoritism for being the top dog in the sport when he doesn't occupy that position?
I thought JMM won 2nd fight and Manny won the 3rd. I brought them up in response to you posting "Manny doesn't get gifts" to show you that opinion is not a fact nor is it shared by everyone.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 02-27-2015, 01:53 PM.Comment

Yeah the thing is Mayweather skillset is much more superior than Pacquiao's who is susceptible to counter punchers and boxers with great lateral movement. Pacquiao is going to have to not be himself in this fight against Mayweather, have nothing to do with the officials.
Anyway, JMM wants his rival Pacquiao to win this bout, so that his own legend will grow even larger. Imagine, Pacquiao beating Mayweather will not only make Pacquiao an established global legend, but it also will propel the guy who knocked him out in brutal fashion to astronomical heights in Mexico, maybe even succeeding Julio Cesar Chavez himself.Comment

My main point in fact, is that perhaps due to the aura surrounding Mayweather's undefeated status mid-career & beyond, he did indeed enjoy favoritism against underdogs Castillio and Judah, respectively. If anything, it would be more pronounced now. Obviously, the man is a talented fighter, and I can only point to those two instances of favoritism. My original post on the subject was that Pacquiao will have to beat Mayweather decisively in order to win a decision. If anyone is likely to enjoy favoritism in this fight, I believe it's Mayweather. Your incessant tendency towards parity, compels you to suggest that Pacquiao can gain favoritism over Mayweather in a close fight. Though I suspect even you don't truly believe that.Yes, that was a KD that wasn't properly called. How many of those have we seen? You can't have it both ways dude. I think Arum probably has more power to sway the judges, plus nobody but Mayweather and his team want him to retire with his 0. But Floyd is also the icon in Las Vegas for this generation and generates a ton of money for the town. Along with Floyd seeming to have control of the fight being on his terms I'd say there is a better chance that the judges will be looking to give it to Mayweather. Marquez is right, if Pac wants to leave it to the goodwill of boxing judges then go for the decision. But if he wants his greatest victory ever, and topple Mayweathers power of the sports "cash cow" then he needs to go for the KO. Which I believe he has a very good chance if he starts strong.Comment
