This is great for the fans. Very happy to see this! Fight the top guys in your weight class or step aside so the big boys can rumble. No more putting off fights fans want to see!Comment

Exactly. There is absolutely zero shame in Cotto dropping the belt and saying Hey I'm a JMW, Martinez was a one time thing for history, etc. Like Pac dropping his bogus WBC belt after Margarito, he made it clear he had no intentions of fighting at 154 again. If cotto has no intentions of defending his belt against Middleweights he needs to vacate or the WBC simply needs to strip him. It's obviously not fair to all the middleweights who are campaigning at middleweight trying to become lineal champ/unify.If he wants to go back down in weight that is fine but he should make his intent clear. I don't consider it a duck, if he wants to pick on someone his own size or even most LMWs, most of whom are bigger than him.
It would be bs if he defends his lineal title in the new weight division he and Canelo created between 155-159. In that case he is ducking and holding the legit championship hostage.Comment

I'm not really upset about Cotto avoiding Golovkin because I never took him seriously as a middleweight champion to begin with.
As soon as you saw that clip of Sergio "shadowboxing" like he had a steel rod up his ass before the Cotto fight you knew he was still injured and therefore knew how this lame Cotto as MW champ storyline would go.
Golovkin-Cotto is funny like Klitschko-Briggs but who honestly wants to see it? It would just be 30 seconds of laughter.Last edited by ////; 02-26-2015, 10:14 PM.Comment

It's funny if he does that to avoid the rule of having to face his mandatory... when he would have not defended his title for more than a year... which is almost triple the amount you're allowed to go without defending it.Comment
Yeah, perhaps Cotto can win three rounds this time around.
