Yes. If you're not getting hurt and winning every round, your defense isn't a major problem.

Everyone were writing Murray off before the fight. I bet most of them haven't seen Murray fight before, maybe except for Sergio fight. Which brings a question I was pondering for sometime now, how good of a win over Murray was? Murray is the guy who lost controversially against Martinez and Martinez lost to Cotto afterwards. We all know there are many factors in those two fights.

Golovkin indeed was getting hit quite a lot in the late rounds however he was slipping, dodging and blocking as much as he could before that. And I can't decide how good is his defense because he's a pressure fighter. In my opinion, I think his defense activity should be doubled and consistent throughout the fight since after all boxing is about hitting and not getting hit.

Martin is a top opponent so GGG has proved he is a top notch fighter to do that to Murray. Murray afterall did beat Sergio in Argentina lets face it.

GGG has been accused of not haven beaten anyone too good as theres no exceptional talent in the division. But Murray was a solid opponent, real solid, and GGG couldn't have looked much better. Wasn't perfect by all means, and he can improve believe it or not and there are things to work on perhaps. You have to have that attitude if you want to get better. But its not necessary even as hes better than the rest anyway.

I say the opposite. The people who wrote Murray off were the ones who actually saw Murray's last four fights where he looked absolutely awful, including a fortunate decision against Khomitsky.

If Golovkin managed to fight to fight Murray directly after his Martinez performance, it would have been considered a tough fight and a great win. But we know how boxing works. It's about keeping up an illusion for the longest time possible, and about being the first to expose someone's illusion before someone else gets to it. Khomsky, and then indirectly Cotto broke Murray's illusion before Golovkin got to him. So it's hard to rate it as some amazing win.

This is not Chris Algieri we are talking about. It's Floyd Mayweather.
Pacquiao will be lucky to land 3 clean punches in the whole fight, forget about 3 knockdowns.

GGG's past 6 opponents are a combined 194 wins with 19 loses. In his 32 bouts he has fought 3 men with loosing records all within his first 4 bouts.
I can't figure what kind of a boxing fan wouldn't like this young man. He's in shape, he has an open 160lb contract (maybe the money isn't right)? he comes into the ring in shape, and he tries to stop his opponents.
              Whats not to like?
He can punch hard, he cuts the ring with little effort and his opponents PRAISE
              him.
respect from your opponents tells you everything you need to know as to respecting the man.

This type of fighter only comes around so often these days, enjoy it!

              Ray.

They were making a point based on conjecture. It is different than making a prediction. And until the fight actually happens, your point about Pacquiao being ineffective against Floyd is also merely speculation. Don't try to pass it off as fact before it happens.

Did you skip the words "What if" or did you just choose to ignore it to make a ****** post? My point was he doesn't have to KO Mayweather to win, and he doesn't.

He is a hell of a puncher. The hardest puncher in boxing pound for pound in my opinion. It's no wonder Cotto refuses to fight him. Cotto has been knocked down many times and knocked out by welterweights. I doubt he would last more than a round or two with GGG.

Murray is as average as average gets. But so is just about every other mw not named golovkin. Which is why Miguel cotto is the lineal champion...
