Comments Thread For: Guerrero: Experience Edge Will Overcome Thurman

BoxingScene.com caught up with former multi-division champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (32-2) last week at his media day for his upcoming showdown against undefeated welterweight Keith "One Time" Thurman (24-0). Their fight will headline NBC's debut of the new "Premier Boxing Champions" series that is being put on by Haymon Boxing.

The Gilroy, Calif. native has a lot of respect for Thurman and said that his record of 21 knockouts in 24 fights shows what type of power be possesses.

    No....

...they assumed the same about Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya, Manny, Floyd, Sugar Ray Leonard etc. Every young upstart was supposed to lose to "experience." Flawed logic. I appreciate Guerrero but Thurman has too much in his arsenal. Keith Thurman won't hit like Floyd. He will hit him with thunder, and jab him with lightening.

      Easy work One Time.

Guerrero is so painfully average. IF you're a future contender, you BEAT Guerrero. If you don't beat Guerrero, you're not ready for the top.

He's so average at everything, doesn't excel at anything. Not a good boxer, but also not a good pressure fighter. He's like a seek-and-destroy fighter, who doesn't have the ability to destroy.

Guerrero is a tough guy with a good chin who learned how to fight/defend himself. He's one of the worst "high-level" boxers/champions of all time. Especially at WW.

          Ummmm.... Okay?

I have nothing against Robert Guerrero. He's dad is hilarious and he's a really cool guy. But I think Thurman is going to beat him and I don't think he's very good.

          Sorry?

He think about the experience with his failed attempts to find Mayweather in the ring?

It's gonna be weird watching a big fight with commercials, we're so used to Showtime and HBO
