Comments Thread For: Promoter Expects Crowd of 12,000 For Kovalev-Pascal

Approximately 12,000 people are expected to come out for the March 14 fight between light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev and hometown star Jean Pascal at the Bell Centre in Montreal, according to Jean Bedard of InterBox, who says that ticket sales are going well.

“We started very strong just before Christmas,” Bedard said on a Feb. 24 media conference call. “As you know, nothing happened here in January or February because of the cold weather we had. I would say that we had a great day yesterday of sales and we’re thinking about 12,000, which is very good for the venue. We’ll see. We’re looking to have very good sales in the next three weeks that we still have in terms of promotion, as usual, while the heat is on, while we start talking about the fight, while the boxers are available for the media. We’re looking for a good turnout on March 14.” [Click Here To Read More]

Is 12,000 suppose to be impressive? I cant wait for this fight as I feel it will be quite entertaining, but I just don't see where having an attendance of 12,000 for a fight like this in Pascal's hometown is quite an accomplishment.

The MGM isn't a big arena and it holds 16,000.

Going to be another hushed crowd. Funny how Kovalev keeps shutting down these opposing fans. First it was Cleverly in Wales, then Hopkins' Philly crowd, and now the Quebecois are next. So sick.

That means they plan on giving away 11,500 comp tickets. All they gotta do is tape syringes to the tickets, drop them on the streets of Montreal and offer to fill the syringes up once theyre brought inside the arena.

I'll be in Montreal that weekend and will try to attend if the prices aren't too bad

Kind of surprised it's not sold out
