Comments Thread For: Paul Smith Waiting; Fielding Fight Ordered By BBBoC

Liverpool’s Paul Smith will take a break before making his next move following Saturday’s decision defeat to WBO 168lb titlist Arthur Abraham in Berlin. “Smigga” fell short by scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111 at the O2 World Arena and accepted that he had lost to the better man on the night.

The 32-year-old believes that the brace of battles with a world-class title-holder has showed that he deserved his much-maligned first crack at the belt and the WBO mandated rematch following the controversy over the wide scorecards when they met in September.

Whaaat, Ward should fight Groves instead. Still winnable, coming off a streak of wins and a much better name.

Ward vs either Degale or Groves would be mouth watering, want to see him vs some new styles.

smiths legs look gone from about the 3rd round, he's no punch resistance at that weight.

Needs to swallow his pride and fight Fielding, it's a big domestic fight fight for decent money. What's to gain by going to Germany and being the 'opponent' again against Sturm? He can't cut it at world level anyway, lost both fights with Abraham pretty clearly IMO: deluding himself by saying he "knows" he won the first fight. Still a good domestic fighter, fringe world class, some good fights out there for him.

no chance Fielding would go more than a couple of rounds. He is hard working and a nice guy with a good following but talentless.

The BBBofC need to get sorted here. One minute there on about stripping Terry Flanagan because he's not defended since he won the title last July, then we have Smith who's not defended since June 2013 & Paul Butler who's last British title fight was November 2012!
